I want to thank you for taking the time to find out a little more about Shavano Baptist Church, and since you are on this page, for caring about the leadership God is using in this local church. Jesus has always been about the business of changing lives. Right from the beginning, He took 12 rather common and unremarkable fishermen in the world’s eyes, and changed them from the inside out to care for others and to build His church. He did this to show His heart for people like you and I, and His passion to reach the world with His Father’s love.
Now, there is really no such thing as a common and unremarkable person. Jesus didn’t think so, and I don’t either. The only way a person can possibly remain common or unremarkable is to stay untouched and unchanged by Jesus. My philosophy of serving others grows out of the firm conviction that what every person needs more than anything else is to personally know Jesus by trusting Him. He takes our faith and gives us what we don’t deserve to begin an exciting lifelong journey that will never end. That’s what He did for the original twelve that He called from the shores of the Galilean Sea so long ago, and that’s what He continues to do in our day. This journey is not the same for every person, but instead is personally tailored to develop the best in each person who comes to Jesus. I say this to let you know that it forms the main emphasis of everything I try to do.
My wife Sue and I have been happily married for 37 years. We were blessed with three children who are now married to wonderful spouses. We also have six wonderful grandchildren that remind us that we don’t move quite as fast as we once did! I received my seminary training at Dallas Theological Seminary where the power of God’s word was opened in new and exciting faith building ways, and my understanding of the relevance of all of Scripture for all of life was strengthened. I earned my undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, and am licensed in the State of Texas as a Professional Engineer. Thankfully, I continue to learn and grow every day in my life journey with the Lord, together with His people.
